Celebrated His Release!
"On the day this offence was committed accused obtained a divorce from his wife, and in the natural exuberance of his release had too much to drink." This was the rather novel excuse given by counsel in the Christchurch Magistrate's Court, for a young man who appeared "f or sentence on a charge of theft.
