INQUEST pN TWP MEN KILLED BY FALL qF COAL NO^OPY ^0 BLAME

INVERCARGILL, Monday. At an inquest on Robert WiUiam Duncan and John Nutter, who were killed by a fall qf coal in the Blapk Diamond mine, Dallas Pemberton, who entered the mine with deceased, deposed that half a qbain from where he halted he noticed that there had been a ' slight fall. Duncan said he would "have' to look at the spot and was just going to move when the fall occurred, completely burying Duncan and Nutter. ' ..... Witness was struck in the ribs and knoclced back clear. Apart from a few pieces of coal that fell as they entered, they received no warningj Duncan had previously examined the mine. The coroner, Mr. Levvey, returned a verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone. He highly commended the miners for their wonderful rescue work.
