-By Telegraph— Copyright).
HAMILTON, Saturday. All sorts of fantastic rumours spread like wildfire in Hamilton last night and caused not a little concern and uneasiness among the public. For instance, early in the evening it was stated in many quarters that a large body o'f demonstrators from Huntly was marching to Hamilton with the intention of raiding the shops. Another rumour which gained currency wa's that the main 'highway to Auckland was blocked near Taupiri and motorists travelling north were unable to get through. Last
evening 'the .""JYaikato Times" Office was' frequently' telephoned for c'oftfirmation of these rumours, which pro'ved t'o be without foundation. It is reported that several Hamilton* retailefs have taken the precaution to remove valua'b'Je articlds and "als'o fireafms frdm their windows, although such action is unn'ec6ssary. Unforturihtely, there is no means of prohibitirfg these people with a misguided sense of humoiir froin dissenlinating "tall st'ofies," whjch only t'ehd t'o create alarm and nervousness unnecessarily. - • y
