SCOUT NEWS

ROTORUA No. 2 TROOP NOTES ON THE WEEK Despite the uncertain weather of Friday evening last, over a hundred people assembled in the school hall to witness the troop's first demonstration night. The occasion, particluarly organised for the benefit of the parents, was thoroughly appreciated by all and many present commented on the splendid effort of the leaders and their boys in staging such an efficient programme of varied demonstrations. Items of special interest and those most enjoyed by the audience, included the neat rendering of the old sorig "I Wish I was Single Again" by Scouts M. and P. Hodge, and a solo by Scout C. Newmarch. Patrol leader F. Clubb's item showing the many uses of the so ealled "broomstick" was a particularly instructive one. At the close of the evening, the president of the troop, the Rev. Father O'Callaghan, thanlced the parents and their friends for the interest they displayed in assisting the troop by being present that evening. During the week, patrol leaders F. Clubb and P. Farren, assisted by a party of their boys commenced work on bridge building, and they hope to finish their efforts shortly.
