SON OF INDIA
RAMON NOVARRO IN VlVlD DRAMA OF FAR EAST. THRILUING SCENES. "Son of India" with Ramoti Novarro in the starring role and a supporting cast which includes Conrad Nagel, Marjorie Rambeau, Madge Evahs, C. Aubrey Smith, Mitchell Lewis, Johh Miljan and Nigel de Brulier, will open on April 23 at the Majestie Theatre. The story, based on the F. Marion Crawford novel, "Mr. Isaacs," places Novarro in an origihal setting, his first since the successful "The Pagan." The picture was directed by Jacques Feyder, who produced the previous Novarro film, "Dayhreak." The plot concerns the son of a wealthy Indian rajah who is precipitated into an amazing series of adventures which start out when a bandit gang murder his father. High spots of the film include, The burial of Novarro alive so that the bandits will not find him; his arrest in Bombay as a beggar for the theft of his own diamond; his rescue from a prison sentence by Nagel; an exciting polo game; Novarro's secret meeting with the American girl in his underground jewel vault; the " tiger h'un't; Novarro's fight with the bandit who
' "w killed his father and the stampede of the hiaddened elephants. The picture is resplendent with picturesque backgrounds, strange sights and unsual costumes, such scenes being faithfully reproduced as the street and buildings- of Bombay, India, with its quairtt and colourful bazaars; the rugged mountain passes in which the handits carry "on their nefa'rio'Us trade; and the jungla scenes in which the tiger hu'nt ahd elephant stampede take place.
