The Goyernmfint meteorologist !ssued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation. An anticyclone is still advancing slowly across the southern Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds south-westerly to south-easterly, of gale force about and north of Cook Strait but decreasing .Jgradually; moderate over the South Island. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts, but still some showers in eastern districts between Cape Palliser and East Cape; temperatures coid, with some iniand frosts. Following are the barometer, maximum and mh-umum thermometer and rainfall readings re'corded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for. the 24 hours ehded at 9.30 a.rti. yesterday: — Barometer .... .... 29.824ins. Thermometer (max.) '6£f.6deg. - Thermometer (min. on grass) 47.2deg. Rainfall 0.02ins.
