During the night and throughout the day in Berlin partisians were destroying election posters and attempting to set fire to hoardings. Herr Hitler's headquarters, where the Nazis conducted a vigorous last-minute campaign. Tlre authorities overlooked minor offences, including showers of propaganda leaflets, and ' concentrated on preveuting assemblies of Nazi storm troops which were liable. to produce rumours of a '"putsch." ' A workman was killed in a street fight at Hamburg and numbers were seriously in jured at Hamm,' Bruehl, Treves, and 'Soldin. Many rowdies were arrested.
