Voracious Eel.
When an eel caught by a Taihape Maori was opened it was allegedly found to contain the bodies of three young rabbits. It is presumed that the young rabbits fell into the water and were swallowed by the eel there. Not even the wildest Maori legends have any record of eels, however big, hunting animals on land or crawling down burrows in search of prey.
