WELLINGTON, Friday. With the intention of preventing uneconomic competition regulations under the Board of Trade Act have been GaZetted empowering the Minister of Industries hnd Commerce to limit the ereetion of new picture theatres: The new ordinance is to be known as the Board of Trade (Cinematogapii Filriis) Regulations, 1932, and is operative immediately. The regulations authorise the Minister to appoint officers to contrpl and issue licenses to exhibitors in iocalities where the ereetion of additiolial theatres "would he likely to result in unreasonable economic waste." The Minister bas to be satisified that the existing theatres are adequate for the norriial requirements of the locality. Tbe Minister must also be satisified as to whether the opening .of new theatres would cause undue hardship to exhibitors already licensed.
