Mr. W. T. Cosgrave for his sufccess in formally establishing a democratic state, restoring order out of chaos and building up the credit of the country. With the Budget balanced, employment had increased, as a result of which Ireland is suffering less from the depression than any country in the world. A resolution recorded: "Vigorous opposition to any policy depriving the Free State of the advantages it now possesses as a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations, the loss of which will not only injure it economically, hut will destroy the hope of national reunion. Mr. Cosgrave was guarded by armed detectives during the meeting.
