PETROL FEED
MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD OF CLEARING A BLOCKAGE. Generally the most effective method temporarily to clear a blockage in the petrol feed system on a car fitted with gravitational feed is to disconnect the supply pipe at the carburetter, and blow it clear with a tyre pump. Some difficulty may he experienced in making an airtight connection hetween the end of this pipe and the pump connector, but this can be overeome by removing the metal cover from the acorn or other connector on the pump, and pressing the internal ruhber -seating firmly against the end of the petrol feed pipe;.. It should he remembered ! that bloeks which require this treatment are caused by sonie solid suhstance, and that the elearing of the supply pipe with the .pump leaves them in the tank, or, more probably, the portion of the outlet pipe between the tank and control tap. A permanent remedy can be made only hy draining the tank and cleaning it, and by carefully cleaning the tap and associated equipment after it has heen dismantled when the tank is empty. ,,
