WELLINGTON, Tuesday. •Mb "W. J. Jordan, M.P., was to-day eledted Natiorial President of the New Zealarid Lahour Party, Which is at present holdirig its s^xteenth annual conferettce iri Wellirigton. Mr. W; Atkinson was appointed vieepresident, and Mr J. T. Thorne, National secretary. Mr H. E. Hblland, M.P., presented the report of the* Pai'liamentary Labour Pdrty, Which rbvieWed the Work of the various Sessions, arid butliried its attitude toward each bf the measures ihtrbduced. Discussing the future, Mr Holland said that Wheh the House of Repr'esentatives resumed, the Labour Party would be ealled- upon to make another sustairied flght against further wage and salary reductions and attacks oh sbcial services ahd various classes of pensions. The following resolutions were passed;— "Tha.t this conference congratuiates Mr P; Fraser, M.P,, and Mr J. A. Lee, M.P., on the stand taken hy them in the circumstanees which resulted in their suspension. "That this conference plaees on record its high appreciation of the efforts of its Parliamentary representatives in their mag.nificeht and strenuous figh,t aghinst the destructive, hopeless and class legislatibn of the Coalition Government. "That tllis conference approves of a shorter workirig day bf week as being an effective method of dealirig with uriemployinent. The Conference will t>e coritiriried to-morfow.
