At the New South Wales Oyster conference, >a iriove was made to secure an embargo against the impbrtation of NeW Zealand oysters ,at present ilooding the Melboufne hiarkets at prices at which New South Wales oysternien could nbt compete. The hnnual repoft pointed out that while there was an embargo oii New South Wales oysters ehterinfi New Zealand, aiid as a result many local oyster growers had fbrsaken their leases and gone oii the dole, New Zealand oystels Wero swamping the Yictorian markets.
