RACES AT TE TEKO
(From Our Own Correspondent) .
WHAKATANE CLUB'S iFIXTURE
WHAKATANE, Saturday There was a moderate attendance at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Racing Club's non-totalisator meeting held to-day on the Te Teko racecourse. The weather early in the morning was wet, and although the meeting was carried through in fine bufc dull weather, there was no doubt that the state of the weather in the morning largely contributed to the fall in the attendance. The main event, the Whakatane Handicap, was won by Mr J. J. Moody's Peter Paul, who took the lead from the start and kept well in front, eventually winning hy several lengths. The president, Mr. W. H. Semmens, presented the winning jockey of-the Farmers' Plate Handicap with a gold-mounted whip' donated by Mr J. McLeod, of Gisborne. Silver Division kept up to his previous form and won three races. This makes five wins in five starts, and as all these wins have been obtained in a0 week, it can safely be classed as a record. On each occasion she has beeq ridden by Stanway. Resultc. — TRIAL PLATE HANDICAP Of £15; 6 furlongs. LADY RUTHERN, Mita Makiha's b.m., 8.10 (W. H. Gomm) 1 CLOUDBANK, Mr J..Roherts ch g, 8.10 (E.
