SHOUTS INSULTS WHEN REMOYED FROM ; COURT. • SYDNEY, Friday. Kate Leigh, or Barry, 43, -notQrious leader of the underworld, attempted to attack a pressman outside Glebe Court to-day while being escorled ba'ck to Long Bay gaol, whence • s^e had been brought to answer a charge o c theft. Pulled away by'the police, she sbputed insults at h'm, and was st^ll screaming when she was hurried away. Earlier. she had verbally lashed the same pressman inside the c^ui;t, shputing at him and mentioning the name of Tilly Devine," Tier rival ! for the leader ship, now also in Long Bay. Kate Le:gh was charged with having stolen linoleum, curtains, byass rods, and electric! light bulbs from a honse at Leichardt, in respect of wh^ch an eviction order was issued against her some time ago under the' name of McMurrie. Mr. Newnham, for defendant, spbmitted that there was no eyidende of felon'ous intent. There was llo -proof that defendant eithejc took delivery or gave delivery. She went to gepl a day after the goods. weye moved. The magistrate held that there was no case to answer, but made an order for the return of the goods tp Mrs. Bolton. 1 ■»
