AUCKLAND, Wednesday. In connection with the resumption next week-of the inquest concerning the murder of Arthur James Blomfield, a city cbemist, oh October 31, it is repo.rted fliat a new development has occurred. It is understood the police learned by chance .of a young man, who has told the story that on the night of tbe murder he was in an hotel when two men, whom he knew entered asking for -a.drink. , Bcth were agitated and in eonversation one allegedly said that they had "settled Blomfield." Their story iyas that they. had gone to town in a car, and one had called on Blomfield to arrange for the easier payment of a debt they owed. He returned to the car and told his companion of Blomfield's reTusal to meet a reauest. It is alleged that he then took a spanner from under the seat of the car, and declaring that he "would make Blomfield see reason," returned to the shop.
