GRAND THEATRE
TO-NIGHT Richard Arlen, that rising young star of the Westerns, turns in another of his admirable character portrayals at the Grand Theatre where he will be seen the remaindei of the week ;in "The Conquering Horde." This picture gives Arlen full opportunities to show his mettle* as a man of iron as well as to shov his fettle as a champion of faii ladies. He is seen this time as a veteran of the Civil War, the year aftei peace was made between the North and the South. As a government agent of the secret service he is sent to his boyhood Texas to "get the goods" on a group of croolced lawyer? who are cheating the people of Texas> out of their land. Here he meets Fay Wray, owner of the biggest herd of beef-cattle in the region. As children they were friends, but there is now a strain between them due to Fay's bitterness over his association with the "enemy" during the war. She accepts his services, however, as a paid guide to lead her livestock on the perilous trail from Texas across the Red River into Abilene Kansas. The outcome of the long trek i? disastrous to the lawyers who had incurred the enmity of a tribe of Inrjians through treachery, but the finals is a hapny one for Arlen and Miss Wray — who promises at last that she will be his bride.
