- The first shipment of Stewart Island oysters brought alive to Auckland from Bluff- reached Matiatia by the steam trawler Taratahj reeently and was unloaded at the depot established by the vessel's owners. The oysters
were carried m tanks m the smp s hold, the tanks heing full of circUlating sea water, and on arrivaPthe oysters were placed under water to keep them alive. The Taratahi's cargo is the first of its kind brought to Auckland. Arrangements have been made for the vessel to make further trips.
