The "Guardian" in a leader says: "Nobody kriows how long Mr. J. T. Lang wiil be able to hold out against the Commonwealth, for a State is a difficult thing a coerce. The Prime Minister (Mr. J. A. Lyons) cannot afford to allow New South Wales's finances to he completely shipwrecked for the purpose of bringing Mr. Lang to h'eel, .01* the whole object of his policy will be defeated. The controversy has ari amusing side, but none the less it is .serions, for the soundness of Australian finance and perhaps the whole future bf the Commonwealth is at stake."
