MAYOR TO REPLY TO CRITICS OF WHAKA ROAD SCHEME PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED "It has come to my knowledge that in connection with a petition which is being circulated in the town in regard to the Whaka Road scheme, statements are . being made which are absolutely untrue and withont f oundation in fact. When I return from Wellington I will give the critics of the scheme and the ratepayers generally, the opportunity to attend a public meeting when I will again explain the proposals and answer personally any questions or criticism which may he brought forward." This statement was made to a "Post" reporter last evening by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, apropos of the controversy which i has arisen around the boulevard proposal for the Whaka Road. Mr. Jackson leaves for Wellington this morning to attend an executive meeting of the Municipal Association.
