WELLINGTON FIXTURE PROVES DISAPPPOINTING TO GROWERS PRICES DOWN ALL ROUND
— By Telegrauh — Opyright).
WELLINGTON, Friday. The fourth wool sale proved disappointing to gvowers and brokers. Some 26,000 bales were catalogued, but tlie total was largely reduced by withdrawals. Clearances amounted to between 60 and 70 per cent. A fair quantity was sold privately after tbe c-ale. There was a full bench of buyers, but tbe Continent was more or less iuactive. For good wool, well got up, competition was keen, but for other lines. the buying was poor. Compared with the values ruling at the February sale in Wellington, the nrices to-day, were : Merinos one halfpenny down; half-hred one halfpenny to one penny down; average cross- ! breds 46-50, one half-penny to one pcnny down; 46-40, one halfpenny to one penny down; inferior cross-breds three-farthings to one penny down, nnd in cases l»d down. Bellies and pieces were one halfpenny to threefarthings down, crutchings one halfpenny down, and lambs one halfpenny to one penny down.
