My thirty years' experience and the many jobs executed by myself in Rotorua are a guarantee of value. My prices are right and all work faithfully executed. Estimates given. C. P. ALLEN, Pukaki Street. A retired tobacconist over on the West Coast has been tfelling a reporter some of the secrets of the trade. "They talk about pipes guaranteed to absorb the nicotine, and seores of such pipes have been patented. But it c.an't be done. If the nicotine is to be expelled you must treat the tobacco — not the pipe. And the only way is to toast the leaf, same as they are doing with the New Zealand tobacco. The toasting extracts the poison and leaves the baccy as sweet as a nut with a flavour and aroma you won't find in other tobaccos. Imported brands contain a lot of nicotine, the New Zealand hardly any. Which is the best for the health? Ask any doctor." Well, toasting certainly malces all the differenne! There are only four brands of the gen, uine toasted: Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10. But— mark this!— the popularity of these brands has led to varlous imitatioiis getting onto the market. 'Twas ever thus! So take cave when you buy. . v
