EASTER SPORTS

MEETING ARRANGED BY NGONGOTAHA CLUB HORSE AND NOVELTY EVENTS A largely attended meeting of the Ngongotaha Sports Club was held at Ngongotaha on Wednesday evening to consider arrangements for a sports meeting on Easter Monday to eelebrate the opening of the new sports ground on the Ngongotaha Reserve. The following club officers and officials were appointed: — Chairman, Mr. H. Keith; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. Smith; assistant secretary Mr. K. Martin; executjve committee, Messrs. Smyth, Burrows, Burney, C. Kneebone, Stembridge, Armer and K. Martin. A large number of events including hox-se and novelty races is being arranged for the meeting, which is timed to commence at 11 a.m. on Easter Monday. The club is indebted to the gonerosity of the following for promises of trophies for competition at the meeting: The Mamaku Sports Club, Ngongotaha Athletic Club, Messrs. C. Burrows, Meredith, Robinson and Hemming. It was decided by the committee that an insurance policy be taken out to cover all competitors and also that tenders be called for catering rights.
