Sealing of Intersections The Rotorua Borough Council staff is proceeding steadily with the sealing of the street intersections throughout the town, and the borough engineer expects the work to be" eompleted in a week's time. Challenge for Watt Cup A "B" team of six men and four ladies, from the Rotorua Lawn Tpnnis Club is to visit Whakatane on Sunday next to play for the Watt Cup an inter-club trophy, at present held by Whakatane.' Tennis Championship Men's and Ladies' championship games by members of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club, which commeneeT a few weeks ago, are now reaching an intefesting stage and some definite guide to the likely finalists should be obtainahle in about a fortnight's time. Other competitions which commenced early in the tennis season are the club men's and ladies' handicap singles, handicap doubles and handicap combined doubles. It is hoped that all these competitions will be decided before Easter. Relief Workers' Meeting A meeting of members of the Rotorua Relief Workers' Assoeiation has been called for 10 a.m. on Sunday next in the Borough Council yard, Amohau Street. Whaka Road Scheme Opposed At a meeting of the Rotorua Ratepayers' Assoeiation, it was decided to oppose the proposal now being considered by the Rotorua Borough Council to construct a three-way boulevard on Whaka Road in accordance with the plan prepared by Mr. F. Tschopp, the landscape architect. A petition setting out the reasons for this opposition is now being circulated in the borough with the object of obtaining signatures in ' support of the Association's views. Debate on Women's Place Considerable interest and amusement was caused at the last meeting of the Rotorua Lodge, M.U.I.O.O.F. in the Druids' Hall. At the conelusion of the ordinary business an impromptu debate was held on the question: "Is Women's Place at Home." Three sisters took the negative and three brothers the affirmatiVe and on a vote being taken the brothers won by a narrow margin. Borough Motor Camp. A New Plymouth resident, Mr. Robert Aroa, wrote to the Rotorua Borough Council at its meeting last evening expressing appreciation of the efficient manner in which the custodian at the motor camp carried out his duties and remarking on the perfectly clean and sanitary condition in which the camp and its surroundings were kept. Finding Lads Work. The chairman of the Future Farmers' Committee, Auckland, wrote to the Rotorua Borough Council last evening appealing on behalf of lads who, owing to the present unemployed position, were getting into ways which were nnsatisfactory and were not producing anything to swell the general production of the country. The committee pointed out that the average farmer can always find work which a boy can do on his farm and thereby improving his holding and increasing the farmer's income. The writer asked that the committee 1 should he communicated with at once t by any person knowing of any vacancy in which a lad could be employed. The council gave the letter its unanimous support and steps are to be taken to give it full publicity. Town Belt Area The Rotorua Borough Council last evening received a letter from Mr. F. H. Young, advising that residents of the Town Belt area had reeently held a meeting and had decided to ask the council to plough and grass the main portion of the reserve this autumn and to grass the eastern portion as soon as the potatoes are taken out. The letter was referred to the Parks and Reserves Committee. Annual School Matches A cricket team and a tennis team representing the Rotorua High School will leave this morning by the express for Hamilton, where they will play the annual matches against Hamilton High School. The cricket mateh will be played this afternoon and to-morrow morning. Last year the game resulted in a win for Hamilton. The personnel of the team is as follows: — C. G. K. Beale, W. E. Iliggins, G. R. Haippson (captain), J. S. Alexander, C. K. Matthews, R. B. Dawson, R. S. Brooker, P. J. Dowling, T. Berghan, S. E. Burgham, R. J. Devin. The team is almost the same as that which played against Takapuna Grammar School. F. N. Keane has left school to take up his studies at Dunedin University, while N. L. Hinton, who made the fine seore of 69 against Takapuna, has been suffering from an attack of optical neuralgia, which unfortunately prevents him from playing. The absence of the team from Rotorua on Saturday will necessitate the commencement of the High School versus Albion match being postponed until Saturday, March 19. Wool Vogue Wool is very fashionable this year and the approach of winter causes ' yet more attention to be paid to knitting, etc. Innumerable pretty and useful artieles can be made at home at a great saving of money. Ladies are recommended to inspect the beautiful range of knitting wools now on view at Misses Hitchin and Johnstone, the Beehive, Arawa Street*
