EXCHANGE PROBLEMS
("Post" Special Commissioner)
CABINET STILL UNABLE TO REACH DECISION ON POLICY 1 CONFERENCE WITH BANKERS
WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Although frequent Cabinet meetings have been held during the last week or so in reference to the exchange problem, no definite decision has yet been reached. It has been anticipated that an announcement would be made this week, but it was ascertained to-day that there is no possibility of an early announcement. Last night Cabinet Ministers conferred with prominent banking representatives, but no statement was available as to the outeome of the deliberations. Several references to the subject were made in the House of Representatives last night and a significant feature was the fact that Mr. R. A. Wright, the CoaRtio^ lr^emher for Wellington Suburbs, who spoke strongly against a high exchange, was frequently ipterrupted hy the Minister of Public Works, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates.
