Timberlands Conference at Te Teko During last week about 100 delegates attenclmg tbe conference at Rotorua of Timberlands, Ltd., visited Te Teko, in which locality the company possesses a property intended as a sight for a wood-pulping mill. The bondbolders in the district were represented by Messrs. W. McFarland and R. Hume. Before returning to Rotorua the visitors, accompanied by Mr. McFarland, motored over the Rangitaiki Plains and visited Whakatane. The Whakatane Chamber of Commerce was represented by Messrs. A. Canning, H. G. Rand, J. Arres and E. W. Beckett. Another Optimist. The Hasting Tribune's reply to "the Ministerial Jeremiah," Mr. Downie Stewart: "Despite the Minister's gloomy f oreshadowings, there appears never to have been more promising opportunities than are now offering for anchored capital to launch out."
