REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET
• (To the Editor). Sir, — Your correspondent "Kia Ora" has evidently not been following club cricket in Rotorua this season, for if he had been, he could not possibly include Hampson in his list of criticised players. Hampson has, I believe, the only average over 50 in the competition, including a fine century against Mamaku. Hinton and Burton have been opening batsmen for Albion for several seasons, having some good performances to their credit. They are also, like Hampson, good fieldsmen and fair change bowlers. In this respeet I should like to mention that in the last match against Tauranga Hampson took three good wiekets for eight runs. "Kia Ora's" subtle sarcasm porited against Mr. Clark, the well kno vn umpire and selector, is very unwarranted and in bad taste. If there were a few more public spirited men in Rotorua villing to give up their Saturday afternoons to umpiring, cricket would go ahead by leaps and bounds. — I am, etc. "LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP." Rotorua, 7/3/32.
