MANY OFFERS
SUGGESTIONS FOR SYDNEY BRIDGE OPENING CEREMONY. PARADE IN NUDE. SYDNEY, Monday. Among the many and varied schemes that definitely will not be accepted by the Celebration Committee ' to lend colour to the opening of tbe i Harbour Bridge is the offer of a meiu | ber of the nude cult to present a nudist parade of "sun-tanned stalwart j young men and beautiful girls." The display, according to the offer, ccmld take the form of a march p=ist. or a float, representing the last thing in modernism.
"It would make a very striking finish to the historical pageant, and would be a tribute to the virility and beauty of Australian men and women, showing that tlijey could not only build splendid bridges. but splennid bodies, too," stated the nudist. "A little too striking," replied the committee.
There have been offers galore to jump, dive, or otherwise throw themselves from the Bridge. All have been rejected. j An airman offered to fly under the J bridge. The committee finally turned i it down on account of the danger. ! Wanted Good Yiew. An escapologist offered to have iiimself tied up in a strait-jacket, and suspended upside down, from the top arch. He would undo himself and qscape. The committee, however, is suspiqious that it is only a catch to get a good view of the procession. "All kinds of people want to open the Bridge. A woman with a child said to be the double of Princess Betty, has suggested that since Royalty cannot be brought here her child might perform the ceremony. Other correspondents have suggested ICings-ford-Smith, Don Bradman, and Dr. Bradfield. But Mr. Lang is definitely "the happy man." In the procession- of floats to take place after the opening there will be no' commercial demonstrations. Many big firms were sending floats but not to represent their goods.
