Some little time ago the British Home OfRce, recognising that London suburbs, where in some cases population had increased fourfold, were not adequately policed, sanctioned a scheme for transferring police from central to subuiban areas. Already hundreds of transfers have been made, and the vacaneies thus caused in central divisions are being filled by recruits.
