NEW GUARD

FURTFtER CHARGE AGAINST COLONEL CAMPBELL MENTIONED SYDNEY, Saturday. The "Daily Telegraph" says further legal action against Colonel Eric Campbell is believed to be contemplated by the Government of New South Wales. The Chief Secretary, Mr. M. Gosling, said that he had received a report from the Acting-Metropolitan Superintendent of Police, Mr. Irving, concerning Colonel Campbell's speech on Thursday in which he said: "One of the police who took a prominent part in the 'insulting words' case has been promoted and one detective who made the mistake of saying he thought I was an honourable man has been demoted." Mr. Irving says that these statements are not correct. No police oifficer concerned in the case was either promoted or lost rank.
