BANK RATE
LONDON, Friday. The bank rate has been reduced. to 5 per cent. The reduetion is hailed with widespj'ead satisfaction, and is considered, in conjunction with the repayment oi French and American credits, as an indication of a welcome improvement in the international financial position.; The Bank of England rate of dis-; count was 6 per cent., to which it wqs increased on September 21 from 4| per cent.
