CHINESE REFUSE TO AGREE T.O LATEST JAPANESE ULTIMATUM WILL FIGHT TO DEATH Another crisis threatens at Shanghai. The Japanese have issued an ultimatum demanding the wijthdrawal of all Chinese forces from the town, but although the ultimatum did not expire until to-day, it has alr.eady been refqsed hy the Chinese. Leaders of the Chinese forces staje that they will not accept vfhat was termed "dishonourable jl/ans of averting a crisis," and tLie that they will fight to the Meath in the defence of their 'country. Chinese artillery has already commenced a bomhard- / nent, and shells fell in the International Settlement.
