ORDINARY MEETING GENERAL ROUTINE BUSINESS. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, presii ed at the meeting of the Rotorua \ rough Council on Wednesday eyenW Crs. G. Urquhart, O. H. Coleman, / M. Keane, E. T. The Morrinsville Borough Coune' again raised the question of ^ amendment to the Valuation of hau~Act and pointed out it was propo^ to send a deputation to Welling^ to place the position before the Ga vernment. At the last meeting 0f Rotorua Council it was agreed wif» Morrinsville that some amendm6-' was advisahle, but that the: "Counc" did not approve of the proposal t sustain all valuations at those exist ing on March 31. No action will t 'taken to send a delegate, as the vie; of Rotorua will probably he expre?; ed by the Municipal Association.^ Transport Authority. Notiee was received that the firmeeting of the central authority der the .Transport Licensing Act woa; he held in Wellington on 19th ij$> In reply to a question by Cr. 0,1 Coleman, tlie Mayor said it was ha that a certain amount of revena would now be lost on plying for hir licenses, but the Municipal Associatif had already made representatict upon this aspect. He was afraid th all possible concessions had gained. In Rotorua it would pr, hahly mean a loss of £300 a year, Cr. Coleman moed that the Cour:f| enter a protest and that the fnat!®| be placed before the Municipal As;:H eiation by the Mayor. Cr. W. G;M hraith seeonded and the motion v;B| carried. || Loan Balances. ^ The necessary formal resolutit® for raising £6700, balance of t!§| £10,700 roading loan, were passed tj6 on the motion of Cr. G. Urquhart, 'li An application was made on [:i| half of the organisers of the "Lr;l| Strike" art union for the right to tickets in the streets. Cr. JohnsflS moved that the application be granfen| and the motion was carried. E The district engineer, Tauranga, sfi vised that the Council's tender 10s had been accepted for 14 k«| which may probably be made avsifi able for those persons nnable to (;«§ rent during the winter. 11| Engineer 's Report. §§| In the course of his report ajffil staff matters, the acting engineer i«|| formed the Borough Council last ni?B that two of the outside staff iH casual work had been dispensed v n| on account of there not being scK eient work to keep them emplnpBj Two trueks had been taken off® road, their services not being req:||| ed. The day shift of the men e® ployed on the sanitary services tflE been stopped. The working list p:B viously drawn up hy the commit® had been fully adhered to.
