Bad weather, combined with fin- j ancial depression necessarily had a J serious effeet upon the cash takings j of the Rotorua Racing Club at its recent meeting. Not only. was there a big drop in the totalisator investments, but takings at the gates also showed a big falling off. The gates i yielded £488 6s 3d as against £849 j 3s last year, but the free day on Mon- j day must be taken into account. It is to be regretted that the financial \ results of the meeting have not been ! better, because, Avith even a moder- , ate profit, the club would probably j have expended a considerable sum ; upon developmental work.
