LITTLE SUPPORT

TARANAKI ATTITUDE TOWARD SUGGESTED HOSPITAL REFORMS NEW PLYMOUTH, Tues. The changes in hospital control which have been suggested by Dr. Campbell Begg of Wellington, received little support at a meeting of the Taranaki Hospital Board at New Plymouth, yesterday, but will be further considered. Though the opinion was expressed that centralisation would he economically good, it was considered that from Taranaki's point of view, the change wonld not he practicahle, involving great expenditure in the extension of the New Plymouth hospital, and the loss of the well equipped 'Hawera and Stratford hospitals. The increase in travelling expense in places already having good service was also stressed. Recently, Dr. Campbell Begg, who on his election to the Wellington Hospital Board, commenced a vigorous campaign for hospital board reforms, Suggested a scheme for the centralisation and rationalisation of hospital control.
