TO-NIGHT Fast-stepping, up-to-the-minute, I , modern as to-morrow's headlines, I "Fast and Loose," now showing at j the Grand Theatre, is a new angle on present-day youth, in its laughing gaiety, its scorn of conventions, its freedom and constant joy. And a great cast \ of moderns portray the lively characters in the Avery Hopwood play, which made a tremendous hit on Broadway. j "Fast and Loose" is a swiftly paced, j gay and pointed Story of wealth, j youth nd love. The action revolves j around Miriam Hopkius, who, while j engaged to a monocled Englishman, loses her heart to a garage mechanic. But the mechanic is a little hit afraid of Miriam, and scared to death by her many millions. He doesn't believe | sheTl make him a good wife. And while he hesitates, Miriam drives her family frantic, and lays plans to snare the somewhat hesitant mechanic. There is a secondary nlot, which concerns Miriam's brother, who adds to the family consternation by falling ;n love with a chorus girl. The entii'e story is worlced out eonvincingly, and gayly, aided by brislc dialogue and splendid aeting by the cast.
