MELBOURNE, Monday. The showers on Sunday made tlie turf very damp for the resumption of the last test South Africa versus Australia to-day. The captains. disagreed regarding the time of resumption and the umpires, after two mspections, decdied that play should eommence at 2.15, The wicket wras easy at the start, Only three runs were scored in 25 minutes, Nash bowling four maidens in succession. The remainder of the innings was a procession. Three wickets fell by three o'clock, the batsmen not having the slightedt idea how to play on the soft wicket, which beeame bad as the innings proceeded. Quinn was missed twicfe' in the outfield by Kippax and Bradman, and hit wildly off Ironmonger. Ironmonger struck accurate lengthy and turned the ball eonsiderably. O'Reilly kept only a patchy length, but inexperienced batting on the bad wicket was mainly responsible for the debacle. The game ended at 3.45. Australia winning hy an innings and 72 runs.
