Rec. Feb. 2, 8.50 p.m. ADELAIDEj Tuesday. South Africa put up a stolid pursuit of Australia in the fourth Test match here to-day, continuing their innings. Taylor and Mitchell were the mainstays among the visitors, the former played dashing cricket, hitting eight fours and one six, but there was a debaele after T^ylor's departure. O'Reilly and Grimmett predominated in the attaek. Mitchell put up a solid stone-wall and scored only two in 93 minutes. His total score was 95 which included five fours. Grimmett was again deceptive and in the last 9.2 overs bowled four maidens for nine runs and took six wickets. Requiring 70 to win, the Australians commenced their second knock. Ponsford and Woodful immediately collared the bowling. The South Africans fielding was loose, and the requisite runs were forthcoming in 45 minutes. Woodful hit four fours and Ponsford three.
