— By Telegraph-

WINNIPEG, Friday. An assassin crept into the home of Martin Sipar at Elma, Manitoba, fifty miles south of here early this morning, and stabbed to death eight persons — Sipar, his wife and six children. Two other children of Sipar's who were in a cricital condition as a result of knife wounds, were rescued from their beds by their uncle, John Sipar, who was living nearby, when he rushto the house which had been set afire by the killer. One of the children, a girl aged 11 years, died later, bringing the death roll to nine. The police are searching for a hired man, name unknown, who has been missing since the morning. The hired man, aged about 45 years, is said by neighbours to be a European immigrant, who had been employed by Sipar for two months. There is little hope for the recovery of the remaining child. The dead children were aged three to fifteen years. Four other members of the fainily were not attacked.
