VISIT TO SYDNEY
H.M.S. DIOMEDE TO BE PRESENT AT BRIDGE CEREMONY ; The New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy will he represented at the official opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, on March 19, by H.M.S. Diomede, which will be at Sydney from March 14 to March 22, according to an announeement by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. An extensive itinerary has been mapped out for the cruiser, commeneing on February 15, when she will leave Auckland to spend four days carrying out exercises in the Hauraki Gulf. ; After returning to Auckland, the ' Diomede is to leave on February 25 for Russell to carry out field training until March 5. A visit will then bo paid to Whangaroa until March 10, when the ship is to leaVe for Sydney. On the passage she will meet the Royal Australian Navy, which she will accompany to Sydney. The Diomede will leave Sydney on the return trip on March 22, and will call first at Nelson, where she is due four days later. On March 31 she will leave for Picton, where she will remain until April 5, on which date she will leave for an anchorage in the Sounds. On the morning of April 9 sho will leave for Wellington, arriving at Wellington that afternoon. The cruiser will remain at Wellington until May 2 to enable the ratings to carry out the usual musketry practice at Trentham, and will then leave for Auckland, arriving there on May 4.
