"Cover Point.")

(By

Weather conditions last Saturday prevented the completion of the first series o.f matches iii the second round of the local association's eompetition. Ngongotaha, however, will probably be credited with their meritorious win over Albion on the first day, and by leading Mamaku on the first innings City will now probably receive their three points also. The High Scbool versus Old Boys fixture, in which Old Boy's had lost two wickets for 45 runs in reply to the High School tally of 252 runs, will probably be abandoned in the meantime. It is a coincidence that these two teams have not yet completed a match in either round this season. The first was started on the second Saturday of a series, being left unfinished at the erid of the day's play. There is, theref ore, very little ohange in the championship table published last week. Albion still leads, with Mamaku second. Wednesday Matches A good bowling performance was put up last Wednesday by Corbett, of the Geyser team, who, in the first innings of the United team, took five wickets for five runs, and one for one in the second. This performance was very nearly equalled by the United bowler, Hodge, who secured three' wickets for four runs. Ellis (Geyser) made a valuable 52 runs against United, although he gave several chances early in his innings. Players Required The enthusiasm for * Wednesday cricket, which prevailed last year, has lagged slightly this season, with the conseqnence that one or two teams arq weaker than they should be. An appeal is made to those interested to join up with a team and. help the game along. Tbe secretary of the Wednesday Cricket Association, Mr. M. J.Hefferen, Tutanekai Street, would be glad to hear from likely members.
