SMART FROCKING
RECENT MUSICAL-COMEDY. The Rotorua season of the popular musical comedy farce, "Diane Develops," produced by Messrs. Cardston and Baxter, ended last Friday. This final .showing lacked nothing in brighthess, vivacity and sustained interest, while the songs and dances lost none of their attraction with their rOpetition. 'The scenery formed one of the features of the production, the luxurious Hotel Belvoir forming a striking hackground for the smart frocks and ensembles of the company. For the freshness and up-to-date styles of the ballet frocks, the wardrobe mistress, Mrs. D. Steele, deserves a great deal of eredit, and Mrs. Scarse and Mrs. Moore, for their organisation of the mailnequin parade, incidental to Act III, are to be congratulated upon their success. The steps in the ballet were throughout original and well executed, several novel effects being intx*oduced, while the soloists proved themselves possessors of promismg voices. An outstanding performance was the beautifully clear and true soprano of the unseen singer, Mrs. Bonnington (nee Miss Tirita Butt). The finale, showing the entire cast, in costume, upon the stage, aff bearing huge bouquets of flowers, was a scene of hrightness and a brilliant elimax to a seas'on of success. Personnel of the company included: Misses J. and N. Allen, W. Apps, 0. Beamish, C. and D. Cronin, J. Cottrell, R. Campny, K. Constant, Mrs, Dixon, 0. Dalgleish, L. and M. Downey, R. and D. Harron, J. and F. Ellis, J. Gilbertson, A. Hawkins, E. Jones, I. Knox^ G. Montgomery, H. Moody, R. and M. Owens, T. Price, R. Steele, J, Wylie, G. Thompson, E. Wilson.
