COFFEE CAKE
3 eggs, £lb. butter, Ub. sugar, 5ozs. flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 tablespoons good coffee essence Cream butter and sugar, add coffee,, then eggs one by. one, pnbeaten, lastly flour and baking powder. Bake in a shallow tin, and ice with coffee/' icing made by using 1 tablesppofi essence and a little melted butter, etc. Ornament with burnt jalmonds.
