(To the Editor). Sir, — Could you tell me if Rotorua has a County Council? Why I ask this question is because just outside the borough boundary the roads are infested with wandering cattle, and there appears to be no statutory authority to enforce the Impounding Act to prevent the menace and nuisance. I would suggest that the local authority controlling these roads, and surely there must be one, should appoint honorary rangers, and allow them the driving fees for their services. While I am on the subject of County matters, I would like to draw attention to tho County roads approaching the town. I am informed that the scraping of the road with a grader costs some hundreds of pounds per year, which any sensible man would consider a wilful waste of money. A controlling body should insist that the Highway Board should bitumenise the road and so save the useless expense of grading same from time to time. — I am, etc.
