A very well-known visitor to Rotorua at the present time is Mr. George Chirnside, of Merribee Park, near Melhourne. He has been a constant visitor to Rotorua for nearly 30 years and has shown a very keen interest in the sport of the district and has fished every lake and stream. Sportsmen to-day owe the deer now running in the forests to Mr. Chirnside's (generosity. After an ;early i visit here he sent over, free of expense, several deer in cages as a present to the Rod and Gun Club. These "were liberated, records an old resident, in the vicinity of Lake Okareka, and the animals, who were dirty affcer their long passage, made at once for the lake and had a swim. Mr. Chirnside, who arrived a few days ago, is staying at the Grand Hotel, but is not fish|pg this year. He is resting and taking treatment at the Sanatorium. Mr. Pearless, of Hamilton, Mrs. H. J. Fraser and Miss I. G. Owen, of Hastings, and Miss N. Hardy, of Milbourne, are at Brents Bathgate House. Mr. and Mrs, Ward, of Auckland, are staying at the Palace Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Nuthall, of Man-' ehester, England, are among the guests at the Grand Hotel. Mr. E. G. Rhodes, of Christchurch, and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Hall, of India, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Davies, of Opotiki, are guests at the Palace Hotel. Mrs. Stephens and Miss Stephens, of Eketahuna, Mr. Milne, and Mr. W. K. ICing, of Auckland, Mr. W. H. Baker, of Thames, and Mrs. G. Galpin and the Misses Galpin (2), of Marton, are at Brents Bathgate House. Mr. and Mrs. Hines, of Wellington, are at the Palace Hotel. Guests at the Geyser Hotel include: — Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sutcliffe, of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. O. V. He is staying at Little Gisborne, Rotoiti. Mr. G. F. Kune, of Auckland, and Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Mercer, of Christ- j church, are among those at Brents Bathgate House.
