When en route to Gisborne from Rotorua on Sunday, Mrs. A. M. Chell, of Gisborne, had a very narrow escape from a serious accident. At a sharp bend,.she unexpectedly met a lorry coming from the opposite direction. There was no room for the vehicles to pass and Mrs. Chell had the alternatives of either going1 over the bank or crashing into the lorry. Naturally she chose the latter. The car suffered damage to the mudguards and a bent front axle, while the lorry lost one front wheel. None of the occupants of either machine was injureS. I
