The Minister of Defence, Sir George Pearce, has obtained a report in order to ascertain whether any members of the Defence Forces can be sent to the aid of the exhausted western fire fighters. It is regarded as likely that hundreds of naval ratings will be mobilised for this purpose, the State Government providing rail transportation.
