SAFE OPENED AND MISSION OFFERTORY STOLEN FIFTY POUNDS SECURED

CHRISTCHURCH, Thurs. Thieves opened the safe at the Anglican Cathedral some time on the Monday after Christmas Day, and stole about £50 from it. The theft niust have been committed during the day, probably when the verger was absent at lunch. Unfortunately the Home Missons offertory, a special day one, was in the safe. Normally the offertory is kept in the safe only u'ntil Monday and th'en banked, but as the banlcs were closed on this Monday, the collections for both Christmas Day and Sunday were held in the safe.
