HAMILTON, Monday. As a result of a boating episode during the progress of a canoe race" in the programme of the South Auckland Caledonian Society's sports at the Hamilton Lake on Saturday, two Hamilton youths had an unenviable experience when heavy waves occasioned by the high wind, swamped their frail eraft. Although both boys were strong swimmerSj their legs were trapped in the sinlcing canoe, and it was soriie time before they were ahle to free themselves. Then, in attempting to swim to land one of the youths, Edgar Evans, was seized by cramp and it was only af- • ter some difficulty that, in an exhausted condition, he was taken aboard a rowboat. However, he soon recovered when remedial measures were applied.
