GOVERNMENT'S REQUIREMENTS DURING PRESENT YEAR LARGE SUMS WANTED

WELLINGTON, Monday. Approximately £14,000,000 will he required during the present ealendar year out of the recently estahlished exchange credit pool to meet Government and local body interest charges overseas. This sum includes £8,000,000, in respeet of interest on Government loans, £4,000,000 for the redemption of Treasury hills falling due next June, and between £1,500,000 and £2,000,000 for interest on local body loans. Government notes are fairly accurately known and the total is said to be £12,000,000. Local body requirements- are not known exactly, but are estimated between £1,500,000 and £2,000,000,
